About PCB Beach Flags

The Panama City Beach, FL (PCB) Flag System is used to inform the public about current water conditions. Flags are color-coded to indicate the level of safety and potential hazards in the water. Only one forum recorded this data before, but it did not provide a way to visualize the data, so I created this tool.

Note: data collection for this tool consistently started from 2/28/2025. More information of how this data is collected can be found here.

  • Green Flag: Low hazard, calm conditions, safe for swimming.
  • Yellow Flag: Medium hazard, moderate surf and currents – use caution.
  • Red Flag: High hazard, strong currents, dangerous conditions – swimming not advised.
  • Double Red Flag: Water closed to public use due to extreme hazards.
  • Purple Flag: Dangerous marine life present (e.g., jellyfish, sharks).
  • Yellow Over Purple Flag: Medium surf hazard plus dangerous marine life.
  • Red Over Purple Flag: High surf hazard plus dangerous marine life.

Beachgoers should always follow the flag warnings to ensure their safety while enjoying the beach.
